Jamie Gorelick: Lawyer

Jamie Gorelick is a partner in the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr, known as WilmerHale, based in Washington, D.C. A litigator with over thirty years of experience in complex civil and criminal litigation, Jamie Gorelick also chairs both the Government and Public Policy and the Defense and National Security Practices at the firm. She counsels individuals and corporations addressing issues at the intersection of law and public policy.

Jamie Gorelick began her legal career at the Washington, D.C., litigation boutique Miller, Cassidy, Larroca and Lewin, where she practiced for most of the eighteen years from 1975 to 1993. Jamie Gorelick was active in the District of Columbia Bar, serving as its President from 1992 to 1993. Before that, Gorelick was an active member of the Bar's Legal Ethics Committee and its Board of Governors.

Jamie Gorelick was also a member of the Professional Discipline Committee of the US District Court for the District of Columbia. Jamie Gorelick is a long-time participant in the Judicial Conference of the District of Columbia Circuit.

Recognized early in her career as an accomplished lawyer, Jamie Gorelick became known for her white-collar criminal defense work, as well as a litigator for clients as diverse as NASCAR and National Public Radio. Jamie Gorelick has written and lectured widely on legal subjects and is co-author of the leading treatise on the maintenance and destruction of documents, Destruction of Evidence. She is frequently quoted on legal and policy issues.

Jamie Gorelick has received many honors for her work as an advocate, including the Equal Justice Works' Outstanding Advocate of the Year in 1997. Jamie Gorelick has consistently been listed in Best Lawyers in America and Chambers lists of best lawyers in the United States. Jamie Gorelick has also been featured in National Law Journal's "50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America" (2007), Washingtonian Magazine's Top 30 Lawyers in Washington (2003), Washingtonian Magazine's "Power 150" (2007) Washingtonian Magazine's "100 Most Powerful Women" (2006), and Lawdragon Magazine's "500 Leading Lawyers in America" (2007).
